I survive the NPR pledge drive during carpool each day by picking one musical artist who is amazing but to whom my kids haven’t really been exposed, and then playing the best stuff from that artist. For example, today is Otis Redding. My idea was to further their musical education, but the unintended consequence is that they’re now rooting for the pledge drive to drag on. I can’t decide whether to be dismayed or delighted.
