So, I guess we’re supposed to start speaking out in support of vaccines to combat the vocal minority of Americans who appear highly ignorant on this point. It seems crazy to me that I should have to do this in 2015, but here goes: vaccinations are a good thing. Indeed, a necessary thing. A critical thing.
My doctor wife and I have four kids, and we vaccinated each of them. And each of them has turned out to be as sharp as a Thufir Hawat, as resilient as Wolverine, as loquacious as C-3PO, and as strong as Chewbaca (seriously, they pummel me constantly, and will one day surely pull my arms out of their sockets when they lose at Dixit).
The flap about vaccinations contributing to autism and such has been proven to be bogus. But even if it hadn’t been (it has, IT HAS!), dying is a lot worse than autism. I have autistic relatives, and they are awesome! I also have dead relatives, and they are . . . decidedly less awesome (though still awesome in memory).
We’ve had lots of smart people working for lots of years to develop lots of medicines that help us not die in lots of horrible ways. If you’re so arrogant as to believe that you can substitute your own non-medical judgment for the scientific consensus of the rest of humanity, then I’m deeply sorry for you. But I’m more sorry for all of us. Because we all suffer for your mistake, and your hubris.
So knock it off already with the not vaccinating, and the saying of the dumb stuff, and the having of the heads in the asses.
While I’m at it, I should probably say that global warming is a thing. Can we all stop saying that it’s not a thing? Because it’s totally a thing.
Also, condoms – you should use ’em. Hahahaha! Kidding. Nobody uses condoms.
Peace and stuff.
