Me: When you agreed that we’d go to this party on Saturday, did you know that the dress code was something called “Red Carpet Premiere”?
Erin: . . . .
Me: See, I’m not sure that works for me. I mean, I don’t know what the phrase means in terms of clothing, but I’m actually most uncomfortable with the phrase itself. I can’t exactly put my finger on it, but it seems somehow over the top or ridiculous to pretend that we’re dressing to be on a red carpet somewhere.
Erin: But it’s not over the top or ridiculous to go to the Hippies v. Rednecks dance party and pretend that we’re rednecks?
