And he looked upon the revelry and merriment before him and felt saddened that it should have to end, and that he lived so far from these fabulous people. But saddened was he also that he should be so far from his children on this Father’s Day. And further saddened was he by the fact that he had joined the wine club at that one place, but not at that other place, which he kinda liked better. And when would the cake come? There would be cake, right? Or was that something else at which the denizens of San Francisco scoffed? And so, with heavy heart and wistful thoughts of a cake that he was by no means sure existed, he didst step to the microphone and proceed to make fun of the groom. And in so doing, he found that everything was immediately better.
