Erin and I have done very well, but we never forget that we got where we are in part because of the opportunity given to us through federal grants and/or federally subsidized student loans that helped us pay for college and law/medical school. Some of my successful buddies act like they don’t remember that their success was similarly financed by Uncle Sam. I’m willing to pay more in taxes if, among other things, it could help someone else afford the education to get themselves to where we’re at.
